I Burned Your Bridge Down TonightBy Carter Tachikawa
I burned your bridge down tonight Wood fallen to ashes, paint faded to gray I burned its beauty down tonight Because if it stays, I will walk down it And find my way back to you
Once a figure of strength and hope Standing tall, touching the clouds and invisible heaven Splinters would get into my feet now and then And my hands would run down the rough railing To steady myself as I made my way to your home
Then you cheated life You cheated me And began to break your bridge That bridge I built for you To cross whenever you wanted The bridge painted red And held up over the brook You began to tear it down And pull it apart nail by nail So I could never see you again
Slowly, you slipped from me Like the dewdrops off the bridge You faded from my arms and floated away And all I was left with was your bridge Red, wet, weaker A sign of loneliness The bridge stood there A sight for my sore and burning eyes I had to let it go
The seasons blend one into another The colors peeled off, the sun grew dim The bridge was dying It was miserable and alone And that's why...
