Same-sex Marriages- A Gay Mans Perspective

I am a gay man who is not interested in marriage anytime too soon, but as I read the newspapers, and watch the news, my temper rises. America is condemning gays’ and lesbians because the bible says it's wrong. Yet that same book tells people not to judge and about casting the first stone. What these people neglect to say is that the issue of Same Sex marriages shouldn’t be a moral or religious issue it should be a Legal one. The Declaration of Independence says “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” No where in those quotes does it say that all “STRAIGHT” men are created equal. The Declaration also says “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” The fourteenth amendment to the constitution of the Untied states of America says “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws” Well by denying us the right to marry that same government who is placed there by the people for the people are taking away are rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not to mention it is unconstitutional. Our very president whom the people elected and is supposed to work for the good of the people, all the people of the Untied States not just the Heterosexuals is working to permanently deny gays and lesbians the right to marry stating that marriage should be a union between a man and a woman. Finally I have to say that gays and lesbians are people to.  We are teachers, doctors, lawyers, and even bishops. Our voices will not be denied, it may not be tomorrow or even a year from now but someday we will have the same rights and privileges as Heterosexual people nothing less will do. We are not going anywhere, we are here to stay
